Alecia Underhill

Alecia Barry Underhill is a professional artist specializing in equine subject matter. She is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, with a BFA in Illustration, and is an associate member of the American Academy of Equine Art. "I paint horses for their beauty, the connection we human beings have to them, and the sense of history and nostalgia for simpler times. I like to paint close-up views that arrest the viewer and perhaps make you see something that you wouldn't ordinarily notice. I am not interested in painting perfect, idealized horses. The imperfections and variations that make each horse unique are what interest me. With my flower paintings, it's as simple as the form and light, and the transparency of the petals. ...
